Our Story

Kota Travels founders

Kota Travels was founded in loving memory of our father, Kota, whose passion for adventure shaped the way we see travel.

He lived and experienced Bhutan as a traveler at heart, riding through Bhutan on his favorite motorbike, discovering hidden routes, local stories, and moments that never make it into guidebooks.

The name Kota means "little boy" - a reminder of how travel should feel. Curious. Carefree. Open. Free from limitations or rigid itineraries. Just as a child explores the world with wonder, we believe Bhutan should be experienced with the same sense of freedom and joy.

That belief stayed with us:

Everyone deserves to explore the world in the way their heart desires.

As a family, we have lived in different countries and experienced the world from many perspectives. We returned to Bhutan with one clear purpose: To share Bhutan as it truly is, through local eyes.

Journeys shaped by those who know the country best - those who call it home. Bhutan, best told by locals.

At the heart of Kota Travels are family values - care, respect, and genuine hospitality. We don't simply plan journeys; we welcome you as we would a guest in our home, offering warmth, attention, and the freedom to travel guided by what your heart is drawn to.

We believe this is how Bhutan is meant to be experienced.
